he was a native and life long resident of Long County, Georgia. He was a farmer and a retired civil service employee. He was a member of Rye patch Baptist Church and attended Elim Baptist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Durrence Baxter and his parents Janie Lou Smith Baxter and Rufus LeLand Baxter.
Survivors include three children, Kay Baxter Lagasse and husband, Larry of Ludowici, Geral Baxter(Reba) of Glennville, and Revis Baxter and wife Betty of Ludowici; two grandchildren, Brittany Baxter and Clint Baxter.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, October 19, 2011 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 pm at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel with Rev. Dempsey Golden and Rev. Greg Bentley officiating.
Burial will follow in Rye Patch Baptist Church Cemetery in Long County.
