Died from injuries received in a mining accident near Pitcher, Oklahoma.

Mother was Emma Blain Hamby.

Joplin Globe, Joplin, Missouri, Sept. 5, 1925, Pg. 8: 'An inquest into the death of Hiney Hamby, age 34, a hard rock lead and zinc miner, who died at 12:45 yesterday morning at St. John's Hospital, Joplin Missouri, following injuries received while at work, will be held at 8 pm at the Hurlbut Undertaking Company, it was announced by Coroner R. M. Stormont. Hamby who was a tub hooker at the Boska Mine near Picher, Oklahoma, formerly the Redskin Mine, received a crushed foot and injuries to his abdomen when struck by a falling mining timber. He was taken to the American Hospital at Picher, but was transferred Thursday night to the Hospital in Joplin. His physician said Hamby was suffering from nervous shock as well as the injuries. He will be buried in the Round Grove, Missouri Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elfa Hamby; his father, William Hamby, of Oronogo; four brothers, Edward Hamby and Adolph Hamby of Oronogo, William Hamby, Jr. of Joplin, Missouri, and Joseph Hamby of Powderly, Texas and three sisters, Mrs. Florence Bennett of Areadia, Kansas, Mrs. Mamie Brewer of Garfied, Utah and Mrs. W. H. Pinson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.'
