Robert (Bob) Lloyd Adams peacefully passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2011, at the age of 94; following an illness which the Lord graciously gave him the strength to handle with the same dignity and grace that he lived his life.
Bob was born March 8, 1917, in Cavalier, N.D., the second of six children of Herbert and Althea Adams. He attended Cavalier High School, North Dakota State University and graduated in business and accounting from Wahpeton State School of Science. Following graduation he was employed by Marshall Wells in Duluth, Minn. During World War II, he served as a Captain in the Army Infantry in the Pacific Theater ending with the occupation of Japan. After the war, he joined his father in the family business, Adams Hardware, in Cavalier, N.D. In 1954, he joined the firm of Western States Life Insurance Company. In 1957, the company requested him to move to Bozeman, Mont. to open a new regional office. He stayed involved in insurance and real estate until his retirement in 1982. Some of Bob's greatest enjoyments were his involvement with his family and the times he spent watching his children and grandchildren participating in all their activities. Upon retirement, he continued to enjoy his involvement in the church, playing golf and later he rarely missed morning and afternoon coffee with many of his friends.
On July 1, 1941, he married the love of his life, Martha Leathers. Together they were blessed with four children; Robert Gary (Donna) of Jasper, Tenn., Nancy Adams Ashworth (Gary) of Las Vegas, Nev., Philip Charles (Ami) of Bozeman, Mont., and Kelly Herbert (Karen) of Tigard, Ore. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Dorothy Ault, Jean Leffew, and Eileen Burke and a brother, Howard. He is survived by his wife, one sister, Marilyn Eng, four children, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Bob was devoted to his Lord, wife, family and friends. He was quiet and reserved but imparted compassion and love with a mere wink and a smile. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as a man who lived his faith.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your
mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, Love your neighbor as yourself."
