CONCORDIA — Sister Rose Gertrude Adam, 84, Concordia, died Friday, Aug. 9, 1991, at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia.
Sister Rose was born Lucille Adam on Aug. 20, 1906. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph for 67 years. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on Jan. 6, 1923, and received her final vows on Aug. 15, 1928. She taught in Catholic grade schools for 51 years in the Salina Diocese at Herndon, Leoville, Beloit, Vincent, Aurora, Junction City, Manhattan, and St. Peter, and in Nebraska and Michigan. She served on the staff at Marymount College from 1964 to 1967. The last six years of her teaching career were at Sacred Heart High School, Salina. In 1967 she retired to the Nazareth Mother House and served as assistant in the archives of the congregation.
Survivors include four sisters, Pauline Becker, Susan Garvert and Catherine Schrandt, all of Plainville and Anne Ellenz of Tipton.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mother House Chapel, the Rev. John Lahey officiating. Burial will be in the Convent Cemetery.
A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at the Convent Chapel, Sister Rosa Lyn Juenemann will give the eulogy. The Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel, Concordia, is in charge of arrangements.
