Frederick was born on Collins Creek. The creek later junctions with Magee Creek in Walthall County. The son of Chauncey Collins of Scotch ancestry; a native of Connecticut. His mother was Amelia Woodruff of New Jersey. Fred married Mary Elizabeth Smith , daughter of William and Angeline Magee Smith. He grew up with the boys of his generation in the New Zion Community. Collins was involved with an incident 1859; which ended with the death of Berrian Holmes. Find a Grave # 125199377.
