Mildred Cartwright Sawyer Midgett, 87, of Chesapeake, VA, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. Born in Perquimans County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Davis Warren and Essie Lee Wilder Cartwright and was the wife of the late Kelly Edward Sawyer and the late Alfred Lewis Midgett. Mrs. Midgett was a member of Moyock United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Sawyer Dunbar and husband Mitchell and their children, Amy Longacher and husband Josh, Jennifer Dunbar and Ryan Dunbar; four sons, Kelly Sawyer, Sr. and wife Louise and their children, Kelly Sawyer, Jr. and wife Donna and Mark Sawyer and wife Jennifer; Wayne Sawyer and his children, Lisa Bailey and husband Doug and Jeff Sawyer; Glenn Sawyer; and Timothy Sawyer and wife JoAnn and their children, Amanda Sawyer and Matthew Sawyer; twelve great-grandchildren, Anna, William, Carleigh and Kelleigh Longacher, Madison, Brandon and Tyler Midgette, Millie Dunbar, Lindsey Sawyer, PVT 1st Class Jordan Moore, Tiffani and Hanna Bailey; three sisters, Frances Roberts, Betty Williams and Sylvia Roberts; and one brother, Eugene Cartwright. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Marlene Sawyer; two sisters, Ruth Bass and Lessie Ward; and two brothers, Davis Cartwright and Julian Cartwright.
