Her siblings were Willey Ann (1845 – 1883) & Joel Hamilton (1849 – 1911).
When Susan was 18 years old she married George Petillo Whitaker, age 23, in Maury Co, TN on Sept. 11, 1865.
On June 18, 1880,
G.P., age 36, & Elizabeth, 32, lived in Precinct 3, Jack Co, TX where he farmed to support the family. Their children were: John, age 13; Elizabeth, 12; George, 11; Thomas H., 8; Beulah, 6; Robert, 1. All of their children but Robert were born in TN. He was born in TX.
Another member of the family was George's brother, Patten Whitaker, age 20, who helped George with the farm work.
