Donald J. Bruce, , age 81, of Adams, Wisconsin, formerly of Brookfield, Wisconsin, found peace Wednesday, October 4, at UW Hospital in Madison.

He was the son of Albert and Lillian (nee Maloney) Bruce, and the youngest of 13 children. He was raised in Milwaukee and enlisted in the Navy in 1943, proudly serving as a submariner in World War II in the Pacific theater. He was Honorably Discharged in 1946.

He was a loving and devoted husband for 60 years to Pauline (nee Boyer) and together they had 11 children, Pauline, Eileen (Court) Piehler, Kathleen Bruce-Neumann, Donald (Maureen), Colleen Ostrom, Maureen (Bill) Wist, Christine (Perry) Woolley, Geraldine (Jerold) Lundt, Doreen (Darryl) Fiedler, Ronald and Jolene (Todd) Thurber. He is greatly loved and will be missed by 31 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was much loved by his sisters and brothers, especially Margaret Lewis and Eileen Komppa and preceding him in death, Geraldine Schreck, Lillian Kaminski, Gordon, Mabel Peroutka, Albert, Jean Gartzke, Bernice Buhl, June Prescher and Janet Edgerton-Schlehlein. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Don was proud of his Irish heritage and celebrated with great joy the "Wearin' of the Green." Don is a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Brooks; Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and Grand Knight of Holy Ghost Council #4648 in Brookfield; and Knights of Columbus Council #6718 of Adams; Wisconsin US Submarine Veterans of WWII; VFW Post #6003 in Oxford; American Legion Post #0273 in Grand Marsh and a charter member of St. Luke Parish in Brookfield.

Don worked at Pressed Steel Tank Co. in West Allis for 19 years; and Miller Compressing Co. in Milwaukee for 30 years. He loved his work and loved going to work every day.

Don and Pauline retired and moved to Adams in 1986. He enjoyed woodworking and was known countywide as "The Quarter Pounder Man". He will be remembered by all for his smile, fun jokes and happy laughter. He especially loved spreading happiness and making people smile. In his retirement, he developed a love for bingo and all the people he met there. Don was an avid music lover and a grand dancer. He is certainly jitterbugging in heaven.

You are encouraged to join the family in celebrating the life of this dynamic, loving, deeply cherished man, husband, father, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle and friend at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Services will be 6:00 PM on Friday, October 6, 2006. Msgr. John H. Hebl will officiate. Private interment will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Brooks, Wisconsin. Visitation will be at the Church on Friday from 2:00 PM until the time of the Mass. Military rites will be offered at the graveside service by the Adams VFW Post #6279; the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post #250; and the Grand Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post #273. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Memorial Healthcare Foundation of Moundview Memorial Hospital, Friendship, Wisconsin. "ERIN GO BRAGH"
