Dryden, Aug. 31 - Mrs. Emmeline Miller Cole died early Saturday afternoon, Aug. 26, at the Tompkins county Memorial Hospital, after an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Cole would have been 91 years old had she lived until August 30. She had been in a feeble state of health for several years, but was able to be about her home on West Main street until Saturday afternoon, August 5, when she fell in the living room and suffered a broken hip and other injuries.

The funeral service was held at the Perkins funeral home, Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. Fenton Crutchley officiating. Burial was in the family lot in Green Hills cemetery.

Mrs. Cole was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archibald Miller, who came to this country from Argyleshire, Scotland, and were among the early settlers on South Hill. The Miller farm is now owned by the Barton family. Mrs. Cole was born on the Miller farm, and has always lived in this community. She was an ardent worker in the Presbyterian church which she joined in 1871. Her church activities were in the Women's Missionary Society, the Ways and Means and the Sunday school. She was also a member of the Fortnightly Club.

Her husband, George Cole, died 19 years ago, and since that time she and her son Samuel, have lived together in the Cole home.

Mrs. Cole is survived by one brother, Archibald B. Miller of Iowa Falls, Iowa; a son, Samuel, of Dryden; several nieces and nephews, including D.A. Chatfield of Slaterville Springs, Archibald F. Miller of Harrisburg, Pa., Mrs. Ralph Miller of Mitchell, S.D., Miss Blanche Miller of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Mrs. John Monahan of Duluth, Minn.; also two cousins, Mrs. Henrietta Howland of Ithaca and Miss Henrietta Robinson of Marion, Iowa.
