Her husband was William Griffy that died after 1850.

She and her sister-in-law Julia are listed as original members of the Milton Christian Church which was formed by Samuel K. Hoshour. Milton is in Washington Township in Wayne County, Indiana.

In the 1850 Indiana Federal Census Rachel is raising only the baby William in Wayne County, Indiana. But who are John, S. C. and Marion living with? Marion could be the Daniel Griff living with the Charles family in Posey Twp., in Fayette County. That would be just a few miles west of Dublin. John is living with the Solomon Horney family near Richmond and S. C. hasn't been located yet.

Lives in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana in 1870 next to her son Marion.

Son John states in the 1880 Indiana Federal Census that his father was born in Ohio and his mother in Maryland. There were Griffy families listed in Oxford, Hamilton County, in the 1820 and 1830 Ohio Federal Census records.

Her father might be Edward Gambrel/Gambrill. In the 1810, 1820, 1830, 1840 and 1850 census records he is the only one that appears qualified. In 1850 he is the Edward "Gambriel" a 71 year old living in Walnut Township, Montgomery County, Indiana, with his 69 year old wife Anna. In the 1840 Union County, Indiana, Federal Census he is 60-70 and is listed as Edward "Gambler". In the 1830 Indiana Federal Census he is again living in Union County and is 50-60 years old and still has one 15-20 year old son, one under 5 year old daughter, two 10-15 year old daughters and one 15-20 year old daughter living at home. In the 1820 census he is living across the state line in Hamilton County, Ohio. He has four sons and five daughters at this time. In 1810 he is living in New Point, Woods County, Virginia (now West Virginia) near the Ohio River. He always states he was born in Virginia. I cannot locate him in any other census records.
