Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor Recipient. He was killed in action. He served as a Private in the United States Army in Company L, 4th US Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on November 20, 1899 near Imus, Luzon, Philippine Islands. His citation reads "While carrying important orders on the battlefield, was desperately wounded and, being unable to walk, crawled far enough to deliver his orders."
