Gary Wayne Callantine Sr., of Kelso, 55, died July 27, 2001, at home.

He was born in Bozeman, Mont., on Feb. 27, 1946, to Francis Callantine and Betty Jenkins. He moved to Cowlitz County in 1963.

Mr. Callantine was a member of the Full Gospel Truth Church in Kelso and a standing member in the Kelso Fellowship Hall. He volunteered at the Work Release Correctional Facility. He raced stock cars until 1979 and he was the sole proprietor of the Kelso Auto Body Shop on South Pacific Avenue in Kelso.

He loved to ride his motorcycle and enjoyed camping and fishing.

Mr. Callantine is survived by his wife, Nancy, at home; a son, Gary Wayne Callantine Jr., of Spokane; a stepson, Jason Simpson, of Kalama; two daughters, Wendy Callantine, of Ephrata, Wash., and Rebecca Callantine, of Longview; a stepdaughter Lisa Risley, of Klickitat, Wash; a sister Penny Cronk, of Apple, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Full Gospel Truth Church, 402 Mill Street, Kelso. Pastor Bob Redmill will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Cascade Northwest Funeral Chapel in Kelso is in charge of arrangements.
