Rev. Lyman A. Underwood was the son of Alanson and Laura (Stafford) Underwood, Sr. He was the husband of Vylettie "Lettie" (Brooks) Underwood. Vylettie died March 3, 1912. Rev. Underwood attended New York Central College at McGrawville, New York and was a teacher. He was a Local Preacher/Supply Pastor in the Genesee (Western New York/now Upper New York) ) Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He served Cuba, Allegany Co., Olean District, New York 1886-1891.
