Catherine Weber is also seen as
Katherine Weber (in the 1st noted transcription of the cemetery) and "Catherine Weaver," an Anglicization of the German surname Weber.

The court documents noted her as "Catherine Wever."

NOTE:

She was born Catharine Weber, presumably in Young Township,
Jefferson County, Pennsylvania near the home of Wilhelm Schmitt, Sr.

She was the daughter of Nikolaus Weber III and Louisa Schmitt, who married in Hengsberg in 1833 shortly before departing for the United States with the Schmitt family.

Little is known of her father except that he settled with the Schmitt family in northern Young Township and presumably died there around 1838 or 1837 at earliest. He is referred to in some Jefferson County biographies as "Nicholas Weber, a pioneer of Young Township." She had one known sister and seven known half-siblings (Wingert).

Catharine married Christian Weber in 1854.
She was the 1st wife of Christian Weber, and by him, she had nine children:
Mary,
William G.,
Philip,
John Henry,
Anna Charlotte (Clover),
George A.,
Louisa Caroline (died young),
Thompson F.,
and Samuel D., the last mentioned dying at the age of 5.

Catharine "Katie" Weber, prior to her marriage, lived with her maternal grandparents, Wilhelm & Margaretha Schmitt,in their home just north of what became Walston. She was presumably raised by them after her mother remarried to Heinrich Wingert.

After the passing of her Aunt Anna (Brillhart) Smith,
the wife of Wilhem Schmitt II/William Smith Jr.,
she helped raise her infant cousins with her grandparents for a period two years.
This was done at the request of Anna (Brillhart) Smith before her passing.

In later life, Catharine began declining in health & died not too long after the birth of her youngest son,Samuel D. Weber.
The Christian Weber family lived in northern Young Township, on the west bank of Little Elk Run, so all births & early deaths presumably occurred there at the homestead.
According to Caldwell's 1878 Atlas, this property was on the northern side of Little Elk Run River [Creek], northeast of the Smith family land & bordered to the south by the properties of Jacob Conrad, Paul Haag, and the Kesslar family.

Gravesite Details

This grave marker no longer exists though the burial likely stands where it was originally, on the left side of current church building. The marker, toppled, was photographed in 1960 shortly before its removal and likely destruction.
