Richard was born in Flint on May 3, 1952, son of James and Rosemary Blackney and was a resident of Flint. On June 18, 1977, he married Terry Hammel in Flint and they were married for 34 years. Richard was a former member of the Flint Elks Club. He was a dedicated engineer for General Motors, where he was employed for 33 years in a successful career launching new vehicles. He retired in October 2009 due to health reasons. Surviving are wife, Terry; sons, Ryan and Kyle; mother, Rosemary;
sister Linda and husband Bill Robertson;
