Services for Rhonda Sue Coleman, 18, of Rt 3 Hazlehurst, who died recently will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church. The Rev. Wayne Bennett, Rev. Robery Wiggly, and Rev. Herman Carter will officiate with burial in Satilla Cemetery.

Rhonda Sue Coleman was born on January 18, 1972 to Milton and Gayle Coleman in the small town of Hazlehurst, Georgia.

Miss Coleman was a native and life long resident of Jeff Davis County. She was a senior at Jeff Davis High School and a member of the Future Farmers of America, and the Epilogue Y-Club. She was employed as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Hazlehurst.

She was a "tom boy" at heart who loved motorcycles, climbing trees, and playing in the mud. She made one attempt at entering a beauty pageant at age nine but decided that "pageant life" wasn't for her as it interfered with her "playtime" schedule.

On May 17th, 1990, after spending the evening working on senior class activities, Rhonda said goodbye to her friends for what would be the last time and started home on Bell Telephone Rd.

Her car was found abandoned that night with the lights still on and the engine running. Her body was found three days later in neighboring Montgomery County.

Surviviors include her parents; maternal grandparents Mr.& Mrs. Oliver Taylor of Hazlehurst; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Vertice Coleman of Hazlehurst and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Wainwright & Parlor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
