He attended schools in Albany, Ohio. He joined the United States Air Force in 1961 where he was an aircraft mechanic, and machinist. After his completion with the Air Force Jack was a machine technology teacher at the Clinton Technical School in Clinton, MO. He was a lock smith and a gun smith.
Jack enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family & church family. Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church in La Junta. He was a member of Gideon's, a member of La Junta gun club, previously a 4-H leader and a leader of the cub scouts and webelos.
He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and wanted to see all of his family saved and walking the golden streets of heaven with him.
Jack is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marlene T. Price Miller of the La Junta home; son, Chris G. (Michelle) Miller of Marietta, Georgia; daughter, Wendy S. (Russell L.) Miller Adrian of La Junta, Colorado; granddaughter, Lavender Grace Adrian of La Junta, Colorado; mother, Hattie Marie Van Dyke Miller Carpenter of The Plains, OH; brothers, Charles F. (Nettie) Miller of Albany, Ohio; Richard L. (Paula) Carpenter of St. Cloud, Florida; and Ray E. Carpenter of The Plains, Ohio. Also survived by nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm M. Miller; step father; sisters, Marjorie M. Miller Wyman Williams and Carol Ann Carpenter.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Rex Williams, Pastor officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to Noon at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Fort Lyon National Cemetery with Military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8.
