Son of Julius Fettig and Elizabeth Webber. Married to Catherine B. Nadolskey on September 12, 1927 in Emmet County, Mi. Obit: Edward Fettig, 81. Funeral services for Edward D. Fettig, 81, of Bear Creek Township, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church. Fr. Andrew Lewandowski, OFM, will officiate and burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Mr. Fettig died July 24 at Little Traverse Division of Northern Michigan Hospitals. He was born in Petoskey on March 28, 1898. Mr. Fettig attended school in Petoskey and has lived his entire life in the area. He had worked for the Pennsylvania railroad as a lineman for 41 years, retiring in June of 1963. Mr. Fettig was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. Survivors include two sons, Robert Fettig of Marne and Donald Fettig of Cedar Springs; four daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Jeannette) Elderkin of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Raymond (Helen) Lewis of Petoskey, Mrs. Marvin (Joan) Tompkins of Petoskey and Hope Spurgeon of Petoskey; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Frank, Raymond and Leon, all of Petoskey and Walter of Saginaw; four sisters, Mrs. Mamie Steffel and Josephine Fettig, both of Petoskey, Mrs. Christine Quinland of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Tillie Junemann of Saginaw. Friends may call at the Stone Funeral HOme from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. There will be a wake service at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests anyone wishing to honor the memory of Mr. Fettig, may do so by contributing in his name to the St. Francis building fund. -- Petoskey News Review 25 July 1979.
