Mary was the daughter of William Thaddeus and Abigail Maria Keen Palmer. Milwaukee Wisconsin Directory, 1889-90, lists Mary C. Skelton (widow John R.) as living at r 238 Ogden, Milwaukee, Wi in 1889.

Mrs. Skelton Dies, Aged 88
Daughter of Pioneer Had Lived on East Side of City 70 Years

Mrs. Mary Palmer Skelton, 88, a resident of Milwaukee's east side for 70 years, died Wednesday at the Masonic home at Dousman, Wis., where she had lived the last 10 years.

Mrs. Skelton, daughter of William Thaddeus Palmer and Abigail Keen Palmer, came to Milwaukee from Cohoes, N.Y., in 1856. She was the widow of John R. Skelton, to whom she was married in 1870. Her father and his brother, Henry L. Palmer, were early leaders among Milwaukee Masons. Several Masonic bodies bear the name of Mrs. Skelton's uncle, Henry L. Palmer.

For many years Mrs. Skelton was a member of the Milwaukee chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian church and for years was active in the Woman's Relief corps.

Surviving are a son, Charles Bradley Skelton of Toledo, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Robert Dunlap of Milwaukee and two granddaughters, Eleanore Fowler Skelton and Mary Lynn Palmer Skelton, both of Toledo.

Pallbearers will be Henry H. Button, James P. Balding and Harry A. Balding of Milwaukee, Samuel C. Dinsmore of Chicago, Daniel Casterton of Racine and Edward Simms of Chicago.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Thomas, Jones & Olson chapel, 1820 E. North av. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery.
