Susan A. "Susie" McWhirter was born February 9, 1879, to John Madison McWhirter and Georgia Ann Elizabeth O'Mary. John Madison was the s/o Andrew Ferrier McWhirter and Sarah Harper McWhirter, who is buried next to Susie in the O'Mary Cemetery. Georgia Ann Elizabeth O'Mary was the d/o Thomas Christmas O'Mary and Elizabeth Oma Arnold.
Other children of John Madison and Georgia O'Mary McWhirter, and siblings of "Susie" McWhirter were: Sarah Elizabeth; Savannah Belle; William Blaine; Thomas Benton; and John Crow McWhirter. Susan A. "Susie" McWhirter died October 6, 1880, before she reached her second birthday. She has what they called a "tent grave", where they stand two large pieces of concrete over the grave in the form of a tent and have the tombstone at one end and a rock or piece of concrete at the other end.
