Lieutenant Colonel Paul Marvin Cook - US. Air Force, WWII.

Macon – Lt. Col. Paul Marvin Cook USAF (ret.), 93, entered into rest on October 19, 2011. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 22, 2011. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm in the Ellaville, GA city cemetery. Dr. Bob Setzer and Rev. Jody Long will be officiating.

Mr. Cook was born in Jones County, January 4, 1918 to the late Robert L. and Maude Tidd Cook. He was a graduate of Gray High School, worked in the CCC, then entered the military in 1938. He served his country with pride and honor in the USAF until his retirement in 1962. While in the USAF he worked in the Medical Services Headquarters Command, serving in Ireland, Europe, and Africa during WWII, and received many distinguished medals and awards during his more than 23 years of military service.

After WWII his duty stations included the Surgeon General's office in Washington DC, Nouasseur Air Force Base near Casablanca Morocco; Randolf Field near San Antonio, TX, and the Naval Supply Depot near Mechanicsburg, PA.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Christ in Macon, GA where he served as a deacon.Mr. Cook was instrumental in starting several new churches where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher in many of them. He was also active in the Gideons and the Macon Exchange Club.

Mr. Cook was preceded in death by sisters Minnette Moore Stembridge, Virginia Walton, Juanita Rigsby Alford; brother, Robert Cook; wives Mattie Pearl Brown ,the mother of his children; Anne Burns Cook; and Ruth Hamrick Cook.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving and devoted wife Christine Patton Cook; children Paul Cook, Jr. of Aberdeen, MD; Cheryl Cook Gill of Carrollton, GA; and John Cook of Clarksville, GA; brother Richard Cook of Corpus Christi, TX; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
