LYONS - Ben Abernathy, 86, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Center, Lyons. Born May 21, 1888, in Ross County, Ohio, he married Ethel Vinson, Mar 6, 1937, at Wichita. She died in Oct of 1958. He was a retired carpenter and lived here since 1958.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are step-daughters: Mrs Bill Prather and Mrs Roy Pool, Lyons; Mrs Media Walters, Wichita; Mrs Billie Fredrick, Colorado Springs, Colo.; step-sons: Van Vinson, Great Bend; Clarence Vinson, Albuquerque, NM; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside service will be 10:30 am Monday at Lyons Municipal Cemetery; Rev Richard Preston. Friends may call from 1 pm to 7 pm Sunday at Crawford-Miller Mortuary.
