Ina Ruth Barlow was the daughter of Joel Pontrum Barlow 1880–1932 and Nellie Caryl Beckner 1890–1973. Her known siblings were: Margaret B Barlow 1911; Mae Nell Barlow 1914; Charles Linn Barlow 1917; Sam George Barlow 1919 and Jo Evelyn Barlow 1923.

In the 1920 census Ina was about 6 years old and going to school Her father was a farmer. H owned his farm near Bulls Gap, free of any dept.

The 1930 census reported that 17 year old Ina was still attending school. Her father was a general farmer and their home was valued at $200.00.

The 1940 census revealed that Ina had completed 4 years of high school. In 1935 Ina was living in Knoxville, Tennessee, and her husband, B.M. Addington was living in Kingsport, Tennessee. Which implies that they married after 1935. Ina had given birth to a baby girl, Gail Caren, that was 6 months old. They was not living on a farm, but they were renting a house for $15.00 a month in Kingsport. Ina's husband was employed, as a supply man in a textile factory, and had earned $1,200.00 the previous year. There were 2 boarders and a roomer living in the household.
