Her brother was the famed bird and butterfly collector, William Doherty. He was born in Cincinnati May 15, 1857 and died of dysentery in Nigeria in 1901. I know this because in researching William, I found an article from the Washington Post date May 8, 1898 where William delivered plans to Dewey and the article states that William is the son of James Monroe Doherty of Cincinnati, a railway manager.
