Funeral services for Charles Alvin Purdy, 80, will be held today, Thursday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. at the Swanson Funeral chapel with Rev. Robert Moore officiating. Mrs. A. W. Smith will accompany soloist Raymond Schultz. Casket bearers are Grant Chapin, Claus Peterson, John Stockmeyker, Julius Lange, Louis Clyne and William Baker. Burial will be in the Hustletown cemetery.
Mr. Purdy passed away at the Rush City hospital Monday. Dec. 14, after several years of illness, where he had been for four days.
Charles Purdy was born in Blue Earth county, MN. on Sept. 4, 1879 to Mr. and Mrs. Israel Purdy. He lived most of his life in Minnesota and married Anna May Smith in Pine City. To this marriage five children were born. His wife and a son and a daughter preceded him in death.
Survivors are three sons: Arthur, Pine City; Walter, Thompson, Georgia; Benjamin, Hogansville, Georgia; two sisters, Aurelia (Mrs. Gust Johnson), Pine City; Mrs. Nettie Peterson, Albert Lea; three brothers, Frank and Benjamin, Alden; Walter, Pine Cityp eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
