Daughter of Julius Fetting and Elizabeth Webber. Obit: Josephine Fettig peacefully joined the Lord on her 104th birthday, on April 5, 2005. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis Stilwell officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, at the Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, with the rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Josephine was born in Petoskey on April 5, 1901, the daughter of Julius and Elizabeth (Webber) Fettig. She attended the St. Francis Xavier School and was a faithful and active member of the St. Francis Xavier Church, the Altar Society and the Secular Franciscans Order. As a young woman, Josephine enjoyed caring for her mother on the family farm and later worked as a live-in housekeeper for the John L. Galster Family. Although she had no children, she was a loving and devoted aunt to her 56 nieces, nephews and their families. Josephine enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, baking and Sunday dinners at the family farms. Josephine lived on her own until July of 2004, when she found a new home and friends at Autumn Joy Assisted Living, under the loving care of John Caron, Jeff Prell and Shirley Decker. She is survived by two brothers, Walter (Ann) Fettig of Saginaw, and Leon Fettig of Petoskey, and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Elizabeth; four brothers, Joseph, Edward, Frank and Raymond; and by three sisters, Mayme Steffel, Christine Quinlan and Otilla Junemann. The family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Francis Xavier Church or Hospice of Little Traverse Bay. The Stone Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
