June 9, 1938 - April 23, 2002

Gary W. BRINSON, Sr., 63, 203 E. Water St., Akron, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient three weeks. He had been in failing health since 1999.

Born in Lagro, to Wayne Frederick and Lula Marie SHORTER BRINSON, he married Senora M. LOHER Feb. 14, 1977, in Akron. She survives.

Mr. Brinson lived most of his life in Akron, moving to North Vernon for a short ime and returning to Akron in 2000. He retired from Truck-Stops of America, North Vernon, in June 2000. He worked at Buck Shannon's Feed & Grain, Akron, several years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of LeRoy Shelton American Legion 36 and Fraternal Order of Eagles 852, both of Rochester.

Surviving with his wife, at home, are four daughters, Mary YOUNG and husband Kenny, Fort Wayne, Anna BRAZER and husband Duane, Lincoln, Neb., Dolly STOUT and companion Ival GRESSLEY, Peru, Roxy TOLNAY, Valdosta, Ga.; two sons, Chuck SAGUN and wife Gail, Mentone; Byron F. BRINSON, Bunker Hill; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Helen PALMER and husband Louis, Williamsport, Wanda SIDERS, Mary SIDERS and Beverly SMITH, all of Wabash, Linda TUCKER and husband Dan, Mentone; four brothers, Mike BRINSON and wife Susie and Bob BRINSON and wife Shirley, all of Linton, Pat BRINSON and wife June, Caraway, Ark, David BRINSON and wife Margaret, LaFontaine; one sister-in-law, Sally BRINSON, St. Louis, Mo. Preceding in death were his parents, one son, Gary Wayne BRINSON, Jr., and one brother, Bud BRINSON.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Akron Cemetery with Rev. Terry McGARRITY officiating. The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Akron. Memorials may be made to the family.
