Mr. Caron

August E. Caron Jr., 80, of George West, died on Sunday, March 30, 2008.

He was born Aug. 21, 1927, in George West to Reva Lee Salmon and August E. Caron Sr. He married Gretchen Schmidt in Live Oak County on May 10, 1963. He served as mayor of George West since 1987 and was a retired engineering technician. He was a member of the George West Lions Club, Masonic Lodge of George West, Sons of the American Revolution-George West Chapter and First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, wife and one brother, Albert Lee Caron, in 1999.

He is survived by one daughter, Suzette Bellows and husband Roger of George West; one son, Christopher Caron of Alice; three grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler and Ryan Bellows; his mother, Reva Caron of George West; one brother, Hershall Caron of George West; and one sister, Helen Probst of Wichita Falls.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at First United Methodist Church in George West with Rev. Douglas A. Hinchcliff officiating. Interment followed in George West Cemetery.
