Bernard J. "Bernie" Cacase, 86, of Rocky Hill, the loving husband of the late Pauline (Mason) Cacase, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Glastonbury Healthcare Center. Born in Hartford to the late Angelo and Frances (Italia) Cacase, he grew up in Hartford and lived in Wethersfield for several years before moving to Rocky Hill 15 years ago. Bernie served his country honorably in the Marine Corp during World War II, later becoming a manager for the Traveler's Insurance Co. He loved planting his flowers, took pride in his cooking and loved sharing his creations with family and friends. Bernie loved golf and tennis, and truly enjoyed his afternoon cocktail hours with his friends and family. Bernie leaves his three beloved children; Brian Cacase and his wife Diane of Tiverton, RI, Sharon Cacase of Brunswick, GA, and Craig Cacase and his wife Deborah of Newington, his grandchildren; James Cacase, Michael Cacase and his wife Sheila, Andrea Cacase, Matthew Olson, Eric and Terra Olson, Taryn Kutniewski and her husband Joseph and Whitney Cacase, his nieces; Kathy Fuller and Monica Cyr, and his nephews, Tony and Mark McMahon. In addition to his wife Pauline, he was pre-deceased by his brothers, Anthony and Joseph Cacase, and his sister Isabelle McMahon. Bernie's family will remember his life with a funeral service on Saturday, May 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave, Newington, CT 06111. He will be laid to rest in Village Cemetery in Wethersfield immediately following the service. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Newington Memorial immediately prior to the service.
