Virginia Patterson Black was barely 5 feet tall. She had an olive complexion and black hair and was by nature a very happy person who was always singing, humming or dancing a jig. She was a member of the St Rose Catholic Church and the Altar Society for that church. At the time of her death she was living with her daughter Edna, and for a few years before that she and Joseph lived with their daughter Agnes. What makes this interesting is that they preferred staying with their children and their families even though they owned their own home at 431 or 433 N. McDonel St.in Lima. Both addresses are found interchangeably from the 1910 census until their deaths.
