Obituary, The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, January 2, 1956:
Services for Marine Pvt Richard W Abston, 18, of 2860 NW 63rd, will be at 2:30 pm Wednesday at Mayfair Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery under direction of Merritt Funeral Home.

Pvt Abston, who was stationed at Camp Pendleton CA, was killed Friday in an automobile accident on the Santa Anna Freeway near Norwalk CA.

Born at Davis, he had spent most of his life here and was graduated from Central high school. He joined the Marine Corps in June 1955, immediately following his graduation.

While at Central, he was a member of the Trades Club, and worked as an Oklahoman & Times carrier boy and in the Mayfair Heights drug store.

He is survived by his parents, Mr and Mrs T S Abston of 2860 NW 63rd; a brother, Billy Ted Abston; a sister, Louise Abston, both of the home address; and grandparents, Mr and Mrs J S Nowlin, Bay City MI and Mrs F M Abston, Davis.
