Aunt Alta was the daughter of Alexander A Jones and Nancy Elizabeth Allen, the eighth of nine children. The family moved to Alva, Oklahoma, before 1910, and Alta attended Normal School for a time at what is now Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She married Cecil Rhodes Bowman 24 Oct 1911, in Alva, per Uncle Cecil's obituary, and they became parents of Kenneth Raymond, but he died when he was only twenty-seven. Alta and Cecil had no grandchildren. Since her husband worked for the railroad, the family moved a number of times. At one time they lived near Lake Tahoe, and there is a photo of their grand niece, Phyllis Drake, "skiing" on the snow that came to their rooftop! Aunt Alta was my grandmother's aunt and a real sweetheart. She helped me get started with genealogy. She was ninety-three when she died.
