While preparing to leave soon for a winter in Florida, Emil A. Wolter, 70, a former Milwaukee police patrolman, died of a stroke Sunday. He was at his home, 728 N. 70th st., Wauwatosa. Mr. Wolter had suffered from high blood pressure. The county medical examiner's office said Monday that his condition might have been aggravated by an accident Friday in which he was knocked to the ground by an automobile on Harwood av., in Wauwatosa.
Mr. Wolter was a policeman, 26 years, patrolling a beat in the 5th district. After retiring from the police department he worked for the Pabst Brewing Co. from 1937 to 1949, as a guide and as a bartender in Blue Ribbon hall.
He was a member of Hiram Sawyer Masonic lodge, the Milwaukee Police Officers' club, the Policeman Annuity and Benefit fund, the Pabst Old Timers' club and the Wisconsin Settlers' club.
Surviving are his wife, Anna; a son, Police Detective Edward A. Wolter; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Welke, Wauwatosa, and two brothers, Hugo, Milwaukee and Albert, San Francisco. Masonic services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ritter funeral home, 5310 W. North av. Burial will be in Wauwatosa cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
