Barbara was one of my closest genealogical friends, and at one point we thought we were related through Phoebe (nee Womack) Riddle.

"My grandfather's name was Mack Avery Loving. He & his wife, Eva Belle (Wall) lived on her Choctaw allotment land, between Calvin & Atwood, Hughes Co., between 1904 and 1916 . . . . "

Carl Logan Loving was born December 18, 1904 at the family farm near Calvin. He died August 21, 1968 in Hominy, Oklahoma. He married Willa Mae Shurley on December 13, 1943 in Weleetka, Oklahoma. They had one child, Barbara Kay, born September 15, 1944.
Carl attended school through the 8th grade at Wister and Newberg. He dropped out to help support the family. He was a telegrapher for Rock Island Railroad before going to work for Mid-Continent Oil Company (now Sunoco) in the early 1940’s. He worked for them until his death in 1968. At one time, while working for the railroad, he lived in a boxcar in New Mexico. A very handsome man, he did not marry until the age of 40. He was a quite, hard-working man with high morals and integrity and was well liked by his peers. He was honest, generous and never said a bad work about anyone. He likes animals and he liked to work in his garden, growing vegetables, roses, flowers and trees. He moved to Hominy in 1946, living at an oil camp six miles north of town. He moved into town in 1952, buying a home there in 1957. His yard became something of a show place with all his gardening efforts. He was also an avid reader and loved music, especially Spanish music. He was a kind and loving husband and father."
