Beatty died at his home near Licenring, Fayette Co., Pa., May 3, 1887. Mr. James Beatty proprietor of the Uniontown Democrat, aged 65 years. Mr. Beatty was born August 26, 1822 in Fayette Co., Pa.
In early life he confessed his savior and united with the Presbyterian Church at Tyrone.
Mr. Beatty was the oldest of a family of six children, four of whom two brothers and two sisters still survive him. He leaves a wife and ten children to mourn his loss. He was married twice. His first wife was Miss Sarah Jane Sherrer, of Baltimore, Md., to her were born 14 children, 7 of whom are still living; his second wife, Miss Francis A. Jones, of Wattsburgh, Erie Co., to her were born 5 children, 3 of whom survive him. In all then, Mr. Beatty was the father of 19 children. The greater number of these are married and have families. In all there are 17 grandchildren now living. Mr. Beatty was widely known throughout the country and was highly respected by all who knew him.
