Alberta Elizabeth Banks, fondly know as Bertie, departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, MD

Born November 7, 1953 in Cambridge, MD, daughter of the late Ruth and Albert Banks was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Cambridge High School Class of 1973.

She was employed as a Nursing Assistant with several employers, the sewing factory and the housing authority. Bertie was a giver from her heart.

She would give to anyone, anything she had.

Her enjoyment was in taking care of people and down home country cooking was her true gift. She would put on her church music and whip up a meal that would leave you breathless.

Bertie also loved to write resolutions. She was often asked to write them for relatives and friends.

She leaves to mourn one daughter, Tomeka Banks; one son, Bruce Banks; six grandchildren, Devontay Wongus, Shane Elliott, Shannon Elliott, Maytwan Elliott, Diamond Jamison and Royal Banks; three great grandchildren, Deasia Wongus, Devontay Wongus Jr. and Saniyah Wiggins; one brother, Orvillee O. Banks; three sisters, Linda Williams, Virginia Payne and Chandra Wright; a special friend, Medford Camper and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who love her dearly.

Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 11am at Henry Funeral Home PA 510 Washington St Cambridge with a viewing one hour prior.

Interment in Old Field Cemetery.
