Margie graduated as valedictorian class of 1938 from Caruthers Union High.
Her mother, Ruby, died of breast cancer in 1936 at the age of 34. Margie did her best to see to the needs of her four younger siblings.
In 1941 she married Marvin O. Koontz and they were happily married for 52 years until his death in 1993.
She dearly loved her family and friends as well as traveling, entering sweepstakes, playing bingo, and had a fondness for "good" Chinese food!
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Shirley; and her brother, Bill.
She is survived by her sisters, Verna Hedrick, Frances Parks and her husband Buddy; many nieces and nephews; her three children, Linda Doig and husband Ken, Judie Moradian and husband Phil, and Randy Koontz and wife Susan. She has three grandsons, Cris Moradian and wife Amy, Brian Doig and Taylor Koontz.
A graveside service will be at Belmont Memorial Park, on Friday, October 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances in her name may be made to Nancy Hinds Hospice, Fresno.
