PARK ALLEN, 44, DIES AT RESIDENCE
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the residence for Park Allen, 44, of 2903 Kanawha avenue S.E., founder and president of the Charleston Wholesale Furniture company, who died yesterday morning at his home after a short illness.
Kanawha lodge No. 20, A.F. and A.M., will conduct the services at Sunset Memorial Park.
He was born at Buffalo, Putnam county, the son of the late George Easton Allen and Hattie May Park Allen. He was educated at Morris Harvey college and was graduated from the Cincinnati College of Embalming.
He came to Charleston in 1934 and was employed by the R. H. Kyle Wholesale Furniture company. In 1937 he founded the company of which he was president.
Allen, a veteran of World War I, was past president of the Men's Bible class of St. Mark's Methodist Church, of which he was a member. He also was a member of Kanawha lodge No. 20, A.F. and A.M., the Scottish Rite bodies, Beni Kedem Shrine, the Shrine patrol and Kanawha Council No. 21, U.C.T.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Edythe Allen; two sons, Claremont and George, and a sister, Mrs. Herald Wright of Huntington.
The body was removed last night from the Bartlett mortuary to the residence.
