She was born April 20, 1927, in Harrison County, the daughter of the late Porter Kittle and Ruth B. Smallridge Kittle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra Cottrill, in 1994.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her only son, Jeffrey L. Cottrill in 2004.
Mrs. Cottrill is survived by four grandchildren, Ross Cottrill, Jamie Lynn Cottrill, Katey Cottrill and Joseph Oliverio; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Devores; several nieces, nephews and cousins; one special niece, Becky Kovar and husband, Robert and children, Billy, Timmy and Amy and her dog and companion, “Jock.”
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Vivian Dale “Bim” Kittle and one nephew, John Devores.
Mrs. Cottrill was a member of the Broad Oaks United Methodist Church and was retired from the Clarksburg Exponent after 35 years of service. Ruby loved watching sports on TV and was a sports fanatic.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Dr./Rt. 98, Clarksburg, WV 26301 from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, where services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Kathryn Ambler officiating. Interment will follow in the Flemington IOOF Cemetery.
