Alfred L. "Uncle Al" Ausmus passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Winslow Court. He worked as a greens keeper at the Broadmoor Golf Course for forty years.

Alfred Laverne Ausmus was born in Ingalls, Kansas on October 17, 1928 to the late Fred E. Ausmus and Anna May Hadley Ausmus. Alfred moved to Colorado Springs from Garden City, Kansas in 1964.

He was preceded in death by his half sister, Bessie Bowers; and dear friend, Dorothy Recob. He is survived by his brothers: Glen Ausmus, Richard (wife Laura) Ausmus, Roger (wife Marge) Ausmus; sisters: Dorothy Peitz, Norma Straub, and Beth Lamb-Duff; and 23 nieces and nephews.

Alfred has lived at Winslow Court Assisted Living for the past three years, and left many friends there.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel.

Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance, Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. There will then be a reception at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Blvd.
