Note: The city apparently has the name wrong; both the obit and mortuary records show Willard Heber White.

Willard Heber White, for thirty-five years a resident of this county, died at the Douglas hospital last Thursday evening (Feb. 7, 1929), following a long period of ill health. Captain White was a native of Sussex County, Delaware, where he was born May 1, 1861; the son of Henry H. and Mary Ann (Burton) White. When 16 years of age he went to sea and was a sailor for thirteen years, four years of which he was master of a vessel. He was married November 7, 1889 to Miss Eliza Virden. They came to Wyoming in 1893, locating in Boxelder Park, Captain White being engaged in the cattle business. They lived in Boxelder Park until their removal to Douglas about a year ago. Three daughters were born to them, Mrs. Howard F. Esmay, Mrs. T. U. Slonaker and Emma Cornelia, who died ten years ago. Surviving also are three sisters, Mrs. Anna Fisher, East Lansing, Michigan; Mrs. Emma Robinson, Detroit, and Mrs. Robert G. Houston, Washington, D.C.; and a brother, Prof. H. H. White, Philadelphia. (Information was obtained from his obituary in the Douglas Budget Feb. 14, 1929; and mortuary records by Betty Alberts, FAG Member #47293729.)
