LACY, MARTHA CROSS

JOHNSON CITY -- Martha Cross Lacy, 89, formerly of 2102 Christian Lane, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002. Mrs. Lacy was a native of Sullivan County and a lifelong resident of the Johnson City area. She was a daughter of the late Rice H. and Nancy Mottern Cross. Mrs. Lacy was a graduate of Milligan College and a former school teacher in Sullivan County. She also served as a field representative for Milligan College. Mrs. Lacy was a faithful member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church of Sullivan County and the First Christian Church in Johnson City for 75 years. Mrs. Lacy was preceded in death by her husband, Steve B. Lacy in 2000; two brothers, Olin Cross and Rice H. Cross Jr.; and two sisters, Marjorie Ralph and Dorothy Torbett. Survivors include one son, Michael Stephen Lacy of Johnson City; three brothers, Kyle Cross of Sulphur Springs, Duane Cross of Johnson City and Bill Cross of Piney Flats; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in First Christian Church at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Gene Wigginton, Dr. Dan Cross and Dr. Leonard Wymore officiating. Interment will follow in Monte Vista Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 200 E. Mountcastle Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601 or Milligan College, PO Box 750, Milligan College, TN 37682. Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Ave., is in charge of arrangements.

Martha was a 1933 Milligan College graduate.
