Married Ann "Elizabeth" Greenwell on 29 Nov 1842 in Lakenan, Monroe County, Missouri.

John W. (sic) Worland.
Another aged citizen has been called to his reward, another shear ripe for the harvest has been gathered in. Thus one by one we cross the river that separated time from eternity.
Mr. Worland has been known in this vicinity and all through this section of the country as an honest, quiet genial man and excellent citizen, meeting every obligation and and discharging every duty.
He was born in Scott County, Ky., Jan. 8, 1819, hence when he died June 19, 1939 he was four years past four score.
He came to Missouri in 1840 and settled on the farm where he lived and died, just north of where Lakenan now is, about three years later, and married about the same time. His wife died in 1868, and he remained a widower. He leaves seven children to mourn his death, to wit: Edward W., our citizen, also G. Henry, who lives here, and Mrs. James Hamilton of this place, John who now lives in Quincy, Mrs. James McAtee of Burlington, Texas, Mrs. Wm. M. Ridge of Denver and Robert C. who lives in Nebraska. Mr. Worland had been in poor health for many months and his daughters who live at a distance came to see him. He is said to have been a very kind husband and father, seldom showing displeasure with his children; and he was also mild in his dealings with all his fellows. Few, if any, knew him but to like and admire him.
Funeral services were held at the Catholic church by Father Adrian and his remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery in the southern part of this city.

Death of John H. Worland.
John H. Worland died at his home near Lakenan last Friday. The funeral took place at the Catholic church in this city Sunday at 8 a. m. conducted by Rev. Father Adrain. The church was crowded to its utmost capacity by friends and neighbors, who had known Mr. Worland intimately and admired his many good qualities as a man and citizen.
Deceased was born in Scott county, Kentucky, January 8th, 1819 and was therefore in his 85th year. He came to Missouri with his parents in 1839 and the family located on what is now known as the Jarboe farm, southeast of Lakenan. In 1841 he married Miss Elizabeth Greenwell and they located up on the farm upon which he resided at the time of his death. To the union were born eleven children, seven of whom survive. The wife passed to her reward 38 years ago and Mr. Worland, devoted to his children and their interests in a remarkable decree, remained single. Mr. Worland lived a quiet, unostentatious life, bestowing kindnesses here and there upon his fellowmen, contributing to the relief of those in need and giving aid and assistance to the struggling, but never with display. He was a member of the Catholic church, loyal to its teachings and faithful in all the relations of life.
The surviving children are: Edward W., Henry and Mrs. James Hamilton, of this city; Mrs. Belle McAtee, of Burlington, Texas; Mrs. Maggie Ridge, of Denver, Colo.; John T., of Quincy, Ill., and Robert of Edgar, Nebraska. These all visited him during his last sickness which began about the 15th of last January. Interment was postponed until Monday awaiting the arrival of Mrs. Ridge from Denver.
