Mr. Billy Wayne Bales, was born December 26, 1937, in Rose Hill, Virginia. He was the beloved son of the late James Caleb and Juanita Ruth Bales. Billy answered his call to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at his residence in Hopkins, surrounded by his loving family in Hopkins, South Carolina.
Billy was educated in the public schools of Lee County, Virginia. He was employed with South Carolina Department of Education from which he retired after many years of dedicated service.
Billy was united 9in Holy Matrimony to Alice Mae Sharpe. This union was blessed with more than forty (40) years of love, devotion, happiness and the births of three children.
Mr. Bales was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Billy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a lover of horses which he owned and raised. He was a hard working, humble and giving man who never thought he was better than anyone. His devotion to his God, his family and others has left and indelible mark on those who loved and knew him.
Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Billy are his loving and devoted wife, Alice Mae Bales of the home; four (4) loving sons, Jeffrey Bales of Pontiac, Illinois; Paul Bales of Hopkins, South Carolina; Robby Bales of Illinois; and Todd (Hilary) Bales of Eastover, South Carolina; and his only loving and caring daughter, Tassy (Alan)Clark of Elgin, South Carolina; eight (8) precious grandchildren; three (3) devoted and caring brothers, Representative Dr. Jimmy C. (Lynn) Bales and Joe (Faye) Bales, both of Eastover, South Carolina; and John (Jan) Bales of LaFollette, Tennessee; a host of nephews, nieces and other living relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing grief caused by his departure, but rejoice that he is now resting with the Lord.
