AUGUSTA - Stanley H. Stevens, 87, of Bangor Street, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at his home after a long illness

He was born June 8, 1912, in Sidney, son of Herbert F. Stevens and Maud C. (Young) Stevens, and attended Waterville schools.

A self-employed watchmaker for 40 years, he previously was employed by Roger's Jewelry Store for several years.

Mr. Stevens was a 50-year member of Bethlehem Masonic Lodge 35 and a member of the Lodge of Samaritan Odd Fellows 39 and the American Association of Retired Persons.

His wife Lucia (Fontaine) Stevens, died Aug. 25, 1994.

Surviviors include a son, Eric O. Stevens, and his wife, Sharon, of Gardiner: one daughter, Lila C. Stevens, of Two Harbors, Minn.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.1 at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where an evening Masonic memorial service of the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge 35 will be held at 7:15 Wednesday.

Funeral and committal prayers will be offered at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.
