Mary Earlene Abbott

Mary Earlene Abbott, 89, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:15 pP.M., Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at her residence.

Earlene was a homemaker. She had worked at the Woolworth store for seven years. She and her husband, Lloyd, had purchased the Mug Rootbeer stand in 1956 and Earlene had been the cook there until 1969. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and a member of the Euzelian Sunday School Class.

She was born May 28, 1922 at Hallidayboro, IL, the daughter of Charles and Mollie E. (Walters) Geistdorfer.

She married Lloyd C. Abbott on December 24, 1941 at Cape Girardeau, MO and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one daughter - Sue Ford of Du Quoin, two grandchildren - Ronna Martin and husband Frankie and Scott Ford and wife Natasha, all of Du Quoin, three great grandchildren - Mallory Martin Yeager and husband Justin, Kyle Martin, and Faith Erin Ford, all of Du Quoin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother - Fred H. Geistdorfer.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or TIP Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
