He served as a Sgt in the USMC during World War II, was taken POW on Wake Island in 1941, and was liberated from captivity in 1946. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, VFW and American Legion.
He was survived by his wife; three sons; a daughter; two daughters-in-law; a son-in-law; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral service were held on Friday, July 1, 2011.
