James R. "Jim" Adair, 76 of Westminster, SC, formerly of Battle Creek, MI, died on November 21, 2010. He was born on November 4, 1934 in Grand, MI, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Ankney) Adair. James graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army. Jim worked for McDonald Dairy in Battle Creek as a truck driver for over 40 years. On January 17, 1970, in Charlevoix, Michigan, Jim was united in marriage to the former, Marjorie "Pete" Inez Music. They lived in Battle Creek, where they had a son, Jimmy Adair. His wife preceded him in death on April 17, 2001. Jim is survived by his son, Jimmy of Kalamazoo, MI; his sister, Elaine Simonsen of Charlevoix, MI; and a brother, Frank D. Adair of Florida. Also surviving is his companion, Annette Wolf of Westminster, SC. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Larry "Gordy" and Duane and his sister, E. Betty (Adair) Sherman. Jim was a member of the Eagles Aerie #299, Battle Creek. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and a great game of pool, but loved to spend time with his family and many friends. The memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek, with the Rev. Robert G. Muirhead, officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will follow in Assyria (Township) Cemetery of Barry County, MI. Memorial contributions in Jim?s honor may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
