GOSHEN -- Dorothy "Doty" Chambers, 83, of Goshen, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away April 28, 2011.
She was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Hazard County, Ky., to Clarence and Zola (Hale) Caskey.
Dorothy enjoyed working in home health care and raising her family. She was a member of River Oak Community Church in Goshen. Dorothy enjoyed playing bunco, bottoms up, making crafts, floral arranging and most importantly, spending time with her family.
On June 24, 1950, in Knox, Dorothy married Carl Chambers, who preceded her in death in 1986.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Janet (Glenn) Stacy of Goshen and Vicky (Michael) Wade of Wanatah; three sisters, Ogie Sizemore of LaPorte, Sue (Vic) Drew of LaPorte and Bonnie Chambers of North Judson; three grandchildren, Jason (Jaime) Stacy, Matthew Wade and Chad Wade; and two great-grandchildren, Kara and Connor Stacy.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Edith Price and granddaughter Melissa Stacy.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. (CST) Sunday, May 1, at Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 E. Indiana Ave., Kouts. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. (CST) Monday at Kouts Christian Church, 208 S. Polland Ave., Kouts, with Pastor Scott Tilley officiating.
