The son of George & Catherine Richwine Morrett. He married Annamelia Sinzinger March 20, 1856, in Churchtown, Cumberland County, and fathered George Washington (b. 09/27/56), E. (b. @1859), Harry (b. @1865), and Willie (b. @1868). (May be a partial list.) In 1860, he was a shoemaker living in Monroe Township, Cumberland County, and stood 5' 5" tall and had brown hair and blue eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Mechanicsburg August 9 and mustered into federal service the same day in Harrisburg with Co. F, 130th Pennsylvania Infantry, at the rank of corporal. Discharged by surgeon's certificate February 10, 1863, for a pre-existing "valvular disease of the heart."

He died from complications resulting from diabetes.
